About Aces Aces or A can be categorized as low or high. By low, we mean that an ace will replace the number one (1) in a pack of cards, which means that in case of a run one can form a run of A-2-3-4. By high, we mean that ace will be considered as the highest card.
Aces can be high or low. An ace-high straight flush is called a royal flush, the best possible hand in poker. The Ace can play as both high and low and is the nut low card. The best low hand possible is the wheel, or A-2-3-4-5. It can be a bit confusing at first to figure out which low hand wins their half of the pot but you always start with the highest card in the low and work down.High-low split: the highest and lowest hands split the pot. Generally there is a qualifier for the low hand. For example, the low hand must have 5 cards with ranks of 8 or less. In most high-low games the usual rank of poker hands is observed, so that an unsuited broken straight (7-5-4-3-2) wins low (see Morehead, Official Rules of Card Games).

Poker is played from a standard pack of 52 cards. (Some variant games use multiple packs or add a few cards called jokers.) The cards are ranked (from high to low) Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. (Ace can be high or low, but is usually high).
Any five of your seven cards may be played for high and any five can be played for low. Aces are played both high and low. Straights and flushes do not disqualify a hand for low, so a player ending with 5 4 3 2 A would have an unbeatable low hand and a 5 high straight to play for high. This hand would have an excellent chance of winning both ways.
Because twos (deuces) are rated the lowest and aces the highest in poker, four aces is the highest four of a kind. When two or more players have four of a kind, the highest four of a kind wins. So, four deuces can’t beat any other four of a kind, and four aces can’t be beaten by any other four of a kind.
In many card games, such as poker, the ACE is the highest card in the suit. In other games it may be the lowest card. In some games it can be both high and low. It may even depend on what you agree.
